Sally Mitchell – Head of HR

The Stickleback Fish Company Ltd is a fast-growing wholesaler and distributor of fresh and frozen seafood products to the catering and hospitality sector. As our business continues to grow and develop, we are always interested to hear from people who can enhance our friendly, expert team in Welham Green, Hertfordshire.

  • Production Picker – night shift

We are looking for someone to join our night shift production team. The role will involve picking fresh fish for the fishmongers to prepare along with frozen and deli items to be palletised ready for same day/next day delivery.

The ideal candidate will have experience of night shift work, be hardworking and diligent with the ability to follow instruction accurately and use initiative. A knowledge of fish is desirable as is knowledge of the food industry but full training will be given. The ability to recognise fish quality is an important part of our process.

The working hours are 5 shifts per week including every Friday and Saturday as these are our busiest days. There is a day off in the week.  The shifts starts 22.00 – 07.30 with flexibility required during busy times. The working hours are approximately 45 per week.

Hours: 45 per week, full time nights

Salary: £23,400 – 24,570 per annum plus benefits shown below

Shift Supervisor – nights

We are looking for a highly motivated self- starter to work alongside our Production manager to run the night shift.  The basics of the role are below:

  • Manage the night shift production process from order picking through to dispatch
  • Ensure our products are of the highest quality and are picked, prepared and packed to an excellent standard.
  • Manage health, safety and environmental compliance in line with company processes and procedures and food industry standards e.g.: MSC / Salsa
  • Optimise all aspects of operational performance including efficiencies, cost, waste and yield whilst driving continuous improvement

Experience in a similar role is needed with fish / food industry experience desirable.  Our ideal candidate will posses proven supervisory skills, a good understanding of the common IT packages and a willingness to learn new skills.  We need our shift manager to be hardworking, have a good attention to detail and have excellent people skills.

The working hours are 50 per week with the night shift starting at 22.00 until 08.30.   The week runs from Sunday night through to Friday night with a shift off in the week.  Flexibility is required at peak times.

Hours:  50 per week, full time nights

Salary: £28,000 – £32,000 per annum

Factory Cleaner – part time 

We are looking to increase our cleaning team in the factory.  We require cover across 6 days Monday – Saturday with 1/2 part time roles covering mornings incl Saturdays.  The actual timings can be flexible and we will consider different patterns.  The morning shift needed is 7.30 – 12.30 Mon to Sat.  This can be 5 mornings with a day off in the week or 6 mornings.  We are also looking for another Saturday morning.  We do require each role to cover the other as much as possible for holidays and absence.

The basics of the role are below:

  • Cleaning down the production area when the team are finished and all deliveries are out.
  • Disposing of waste packaging
  • General housekeeping duties
  • Assisting the production team as required.

We look for candidates with cleaning experience in a similar environment.  It is a physical role using factory cleaning equipment so our cleaners need to be robust and not afraid to get dirty. It is a wet and sometimes messy job in a chilled environment.  Full protective clothing is provided and training will be given on all equipment and processes.

Hours:  flexible / negotiable part time

Salary: £10.00 per hour
