The Stickleback Fish Company Ltd is a fast-growing wholesaler and distributor of fresh and frozen seafood products to the catering and hospitality sector. As our business continues to grow and develop, we are always interested to hear from people who can enhance our friendly, expert team in Welham Green, Hertfordshire.

  • Multi drop driver – full and part time

We are looking for experienced delivery drivers to join our distribution team. We have a full time vacancy working 5 shifts per week including Friday and Saturday with a day off in the week and a part time vacancy of 3 shifts Thursday to Saturday.

The shift can start from between 5am – 6.30am with between 15 – 25 drops per shift. This will depend on the location of the round and the number of drops. Full training will be given.

A positive and friendly manner is essential for our drivers as they are the face of our business. We look for flexible, well presented individuals with a good attention to detail with our pape

rwork and procedures and a good driving record. We provide uniform and appropriate weatherproof clothing.  For insurance purposes we can only employ drivers aged 25 years and over.

  • Production Picker – night shift

We are looking for someone to join our night shift production team. The role will involve picking fresh fish for the fishmongers to prepare along with frozen and deli items to be palletised ready for same day/next day delivery.

The ideal candidate will have experience of night shift work, be hardworking and diligent with the ability to follow instruction accurately and use initiative. A knowledge of fish is desirable as is knowledge of the food industry but full training will be given. The ability to recognise fish quality is an important part of our process.

We operate a tight ship with everyone pulling together to ensure the orders are prepared to the highest standard and delivered on time to our customers. Our reputation is everything.

You will join a tight knit team of skilled and experienced people happy to share their knowledge. Stickleback ensures that its staff are well trained and well looked after. Along with 28 days holiday including public holidays per year and a contributory pension scheme, corporate eye care and there is a generous fish allowance.

The working hours are 5 shifts per week including every Friday and Saturday as these are our busiest days. There is a day off in the week.  The shifts starts 22.00 – 07.30 with flexibility required during busy times. The working hours are approximately 45 per week.

  • Quality Assurance & Goods In assistant

We are looking for 2 people to join our QA and Goods In team. The role involves dealing with deliveries, stock control and quality assessment. The role is flexible and the post holder will assist with loading of vans at busy periods. It is often all hands on deck.

This role requires someone who works hard, is good within a team and can work on their own initiative. There is a team of 3 people led by the QA and Stock Control Manager.  The job needs to be done to a very high standard and is very physical. The ideal candidate will be robust with an excellent work ethic. It can be a messy job as we are dealing with fish and seafood.

Full training will be given but experience of stock control, quality assurance and a good fish knowledge are desirable.

The working hours are 45 per week over 5 shifts Mon – Saturday with a day off in the week and Sundays off. The team will initially all work together starting at 22.00 and finishing at 07.30 with an hour break. The plan going forward one the team is fully trained is for either a mix of days (5am start)and nights or one person on each. The Manager will remain on the night shift. Extra hours are available during busy times or absence and flexibility is expected.

  • Credit Control Supervisor

We are looking for a supervisor to lead the Credit Control team of 2 at Stickleback.  Both roles are part time covering the week between them.

Reporting to the Managing Director you will manage a diverse portfolio of customers ranging from: Cafes to Restaurants, Pubs to Hotels, Schools to Care Homes, Colleges to Catering Companies, based in the South East of England.

Job description:

  • Responsible for Credit Evaluation and Risk Assessment in accordance with the Company credit policy.  limits.
  • Responsible for Accounts Receivable cash collection and application, ensuring all debts are collected.
  • Monitor payment performance of the portfolio of accounts.
  • Create and develop effective working relationships with key accounts.
  • Responsible for handling invoice query resolution and documentation.
  • Manage high risk accounts
  • Generate weekly/monthly statements and payment due letters.
  • Review and develop internal processes/procedures with management to ensure best practice methods are used and are fit for purpose.
  • Responsibility for legal and liquidated accounts including communication with solicitors, insolvency practitioners, receivers and liquidators.

Experience & skills

  • Experience of working in a similar role
  • Relevant financial qualifications desirable
  • Ability to work alone and as part of a team
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Excellent Customer Service

Job type : Permanent,  part time,  18 hours per week.  Monday, Wednesday and one other day in the week to be agreed.
